The FAU Urbanism and Architecture University by João Villanova Artigas
“This is not the first building I will be going to but it might be the one I’d go to if I could go anywhere in the world” – Edwin Heathcote.
“The FAU Urbanism and Architecture University looks to me like the building which most embodies the openness, the flow, the radical togetherness that we will have missed so much. I only visited once and it was undergoing repairs but it exerted a remarkable impact on me. It embodies the desire for the erasing of the distinction between interior and landscape that was such a modernist fetish and does it with élan and lightness. Its architect, João Villanova Artigas created a work of genius here, a series of spaces as good as I have ever seen.”
